ADOPT

Our main goal at Halfway to Heaven Mustang Rescue is to place horses in forever homes where they will live in a safe, healthy, happy environment. We specialize in gentling Wild American Mustangs and train our horses to make them safe and fun to have around. Occasionally, we have finished horses, or those just started under saddle.  Green horses under the saddle will be ready for an experienced horse person to continue training, or a less experienced horse person to finish the horse with a competent trainer's advice and coaching.  Many of our horses are with us for an extended period. We are a small rescue team doing all the gentling and training ourselves. When we have horses ready for a new home, we post them here and will take applications. Training fees will reflect the horse's current training level. All the money we receive from adoptions goes back into our program to help other horses!

Trip

Trip will be available in the fall of 2024 when he will be 3 years old. Trip is  from the South Steens Herd Management Area in Oregon. He is very intelligent, willing, friendly and curious. Trip is calm and quiet, and gets along well with all herd mates, mares or geldings. We named him Trip for the incredible journey he has taken to get to our current farm in South Carolina. Starting from an Oregon HMA, Trip was placed on the BLM's Internet Adoption Site.  He was adopted by a person who never picked him up from an event in Florida. From there we became involved and had him shipped to our previous farm in Virginia, and this past summer Trip made another journey to our new farm in Aiken, SC!

He is more traveled than many people! He enjoys training and loves to be around people. We will be posting videos of Trip's ongoing training on our Face Book page and You tube channel. This is a horse that is so easy to love. We are excited to prepare Trip for his forever home!

ADOPTED!!!

Trip has been adopted!  Over the two years we have had him, Trip proved to be a wonderful, intelligent, eager horse. He was adopted by Christian Jackson and her family. Christian is a lifelong Equestrian. She resides in the Low Country of SC with her husband, Tank, and their two children.

Christian's equestrian background includes showing hunter-jumpers. She switched to dressage several years ago and has since achieved her USDF bronze medal. Christian is excited about her new journey with Trip, as she is eager to see what they can accomplish together. They hope Trip will enjoy participating in shows and low-level dressage, and serving as a trail horse for the family. Here at Halfway to Heaven, we couldn't be happier for Trip and his new family!

In September 2024, Halfway to Heaven Mustang Rescue was part of the Aiken TEAM, bringing the EQUUS Film and Arts Fest/The Mustang Summit to Aiken, SC.  On the event's last day, six yearling Mustangs were sold via silent auction. All six youngsters went to loving homes!  We are proud to be a part of this!
