Volunteer
Opportunities
As a small rescue we do our best to provide care for as many horses as possible. However, we do have a limit in order to provide the best of care and training for each individual horse. Our volunteers play a huge role in making this work and we are always so very grateful for them.
Work with
children
Aiken, SC or surrounding areas
Children are our future. One of our goals and missions for our rescue is to inform and teach children about the Wild Mustangs in the United States, the role they have played in building this country, as well as their current situation. The volunteer for this task would take handouts and possibly a Power Point presentation to schools and present the information to children. The volunteer would also help with education for children directly at the rescue. Approaching schools and offering presentations and field trips would be included in this volunteers responsibility. Volunteering for this position would require as little as 6 hours a month, or as much as you'd like. Contact us for more information.
Help care for
our horses
Aiken, SC
There are always chores to do around the farm. Cleaning stalls and run-ins, washing water and feed buckets, sweeping, preparing meals, cleaning tack, grooming, organizing and implementing enrichment activities for the horses, etc. Having help to care for the horses gives us more time to spend training each individual horse. Our horses crave human attention and for their mental well being we try our best to give as much one on one care, and environmental enrichment as possible. Caring for the horses also includes routine maintenance of fencing, fields, small construction jobs around the barn, hanging shelves, etc. Contact us for more information.
Help train
our horses
Aiken, SC
All of our horses are trained as often as possible. We use science based and backed methods of Positive Reinforcement/Clicker Training. On the ground most training sessions are short, lasting only from 5 to 15 minutes in duration. Under saddle we normally spend only 1/2 hour or so. When we take the horses out on the trail for rides, we may use our wooded paths around the property for short rides, or haul a couple of horses off property for longer trail rides. Volunteers will be coached in our methods and have the chance to learn and train with Lisa. Opportunities at this level are very limited, but can become available at any time.
